With each new book, we see another level of their relationship. And even though the charges are soon dropped - there have been too much hurtful words and actions for Sam and Quinn to get back together. However, there was too much set up for the next 2 books in the series. Another thing I found implausible was the characters of Quinn's parents. . But beneath her tough facade lies a wary heart. H and h were in love and something happened to separate them for 10 years.
The murder mystery was pretty interesting, even though I'd figured out a major aspect of it early on. Intense prologue and a really sweet romance at the beginning. A fabulous addition to the Wildefire series, Midnight Lies once again pulls us deep into the Wilde sister's lives. I understand, we all have something but man I wanted to slap him a few times. Samantha Wilde is an Atlanta Police Department homicide detective involved with Quinn Braddock, an emergency room doctor.
Even the romance didn't quite live up to that of the first book, so overall it was a case 'meh'. The lives of three beautiful daughters were forever changed when, on a sultry night in Midnight, Alabama, a murder-suicide shattered the Wilde family. An advance copy of the book was provided to me for review by the publisher and NetGalley. There was just something missing, sparks or chemistry. I feel that how the couple meets and those first few romantic encounters really define a relationship and gives the reader insight into the characters. I love nothing more than discovering a new author and anticipating the remainder of a series.
By the time I finished I was both floored by the villain didn't even suspect until I was just about on top of the reveal and crazy about Sam and Quinn. The winds of fate have blown cruelly on a family that once had it all: money, power, prestige. The girls grew up to live separate lives but now have returned home, each to face a danger no one can see coming. Quinn's parents are perfect example of people living behind a façade. He was upfront with Sam about not wanting to get married and I respected that — she gets angry when she cannot change his mind quickly. Both loved each other and when reunited were able to communicate about what had happened. The different plot twists that integrate together and come to a startling conclusion when the true identity of the murderer is revealed was one that kind of got the gist of but was pleasantly surprised that had guessed correctly anyway.
The lives of three beautiful daughters were forever changed when, on a sultry night in Midnight, Alabama, a murder-suicide shattered the Wilde family. Lauren is in trouble, and has come to them for help. I just got fed up. The first story, Midnight Secrets, was a good read, this one is not-to-be-missed. I cannot wait to read it!! Oh, yeah, I want stories for all of them!! I found my heart racing, my suspicions peeked, my e-reader getting steamed up and my own mystery solving skills tested. I look forward to more from Ella Grace!! I'm looking forward to the next Wilde adventure in Midnight! Both shouldered responsibility for what happened to them in Atlanta and try hard to push through their tendency to withhold. That just seeing your face creates a peace inside me I've never felt before? Quinn's marriage and divorce before the book begins is implausible.
They aren't flat or cartoony, they grow and change within the storyline. We are introduced to Samantha a few months before she returns to Midnight just before the murder of her parents has been solved. When Samantha returns home to work with her sisters, I was able to better distinguish between the triplets as their personalities are distinctive. The killer threw me for a loop. I think that would have helped me understand Sam a bit more. Want more steamy southern suspense? There is instant attraction but that happens before the book starts. At the time the man she was seeing had been accused of murdering his ex-wife, and even though Samantha had been able to prove he was not responsible, there was no way she was able to undo her initial uncertainty regarding his guilt or innocence.
Hopefully, Bri, Logan and Brody will get their story. The Wilde sisters of Midnight return in this thrilling novel of romantic suspense, perfect for fans of Maya Banks, Allison Brennan, and Lori Foster. Haunted by tragedy, former homecoming queen Samantha Wilde couldn't imagine any career other than law enforcement. The tragedy that struck her family is an ever-present reminder that nothing is ever as it seems. The winds of fate have blown cruelly on a family that once had it all: money, power, prestige. Grade A Review by: Jeananna 4.
. Look for Savannah's story in Midnight Secrets and Sabrina's story in Midnight Shadows. Quinn is ready to ask Samantha to move in with him and has planned a romantic evening for them both when that morning, after a phone call from his ex-wife, he stops by her house to get a family necklace she kept after their divorce, only to find his ex-wife murdered. She never fails to provide a complete package of edge-of-your-seat chills and thrills with every book. Their parents were in fact murdered and no proper investigation was ever done. On top of that, Sam carries with her family history in which her father committed a murder-suicide of her mother.
The tragedy that struck her family is an ever-present reminder that nothing is ever as it seems. A book that has been read but is in good condition. Sam heads home to Midnight where she opens up a detective agency with her two sisters. But, scarred from her past, Sam is doesn't know what to think about anything. That the thought of not having you in my life tears at my soul? Not too explicit for those that don't want it, but enough to keep the heat. It didn't last long, but long enough to damage if not destroy any trust between them.
